Hi, I’m Heather — the photographer behind the lens at Heather’s Photography Company.

I’m an artist at heart with a deep love for storytelling, connection, and preserving life’s most meaningful moments. My creative journey began at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where I earned a BFA in Scenic Painting. Before photography became my full-time passion, I spent years touring the country painting and designing concert sets for musicians, bringing large-scale creative visions to life. You may also recognize my work from installations at the Kaleideum Children’s Museum or from my time working behind the scenes in theater and other creative fields.

All of those experiences shaped the way I see the world — with intention, artistry, and an eye for the moments that matter most.

Since 2014, I’ve had the privilege of photographing weddings, families, maternity, newborns, and children. What drew me to photography — and what keeps me inspired — is the ability to freeze fleeting moments in time. The quiet in-between glances, the joyful chaos, the emotional connections that deserve to be remembered exactly as they felt.

When you work with me, you can expect a photography experience that’s relaxed, genuine, and full of heart. Whether I’m guiding you through lightly posed moments or stepping back to capture candid emotion, my goal is always the same: to help you feel comfortable, confident, and truly yourself in front of the camera.

For weddings, I’m there with you every step of the way — from calming nerves to documenting the big moments and all the beautiful details in between. I know how to read a room, anticipate moments before they happen, and adapt seamlessly so nothing important is missed. For maternity, newborn, and family sessions, I focus on creating an environment that feels natural and fun, allowing real connection and emotion to shine through.

Outside of photography, I’m a wife and mom of two — including my energetic 8 year old daughter and my 7 month old baby boy, who has already added a whole new level of love (and joyful chaos) to our lives. I love tacos, podcasts, running, and unwinding with my favorite show, Supernatural. If you’re a fan of Dean, Sam, and all things paranormal, we’ll get along just fine.
